What is a professional volunteer fire department?

Our tradition of operations as a volunteer department is not only a community committment but also a testament to the protection of our wonderful home by those who have come to make their lives here.  A volunteer department is unique in that the firefighters who serve do so in a strictly volunteer capacity.  In addition to day jobs and other committments, the volunteers participate in rigorous weekly training and continued opportunities for skill building to expand the departments abilities for emergency response. 

The volunteers respond to a wide-variety of calls including many areas of expertise including:

• Structure fires
• Vehicle extrications
• Wildland firefighting
• Hazmat incidents
• Swiftwater rescue
